Stick a pitch-fork im ‘em, cause the Sun Devils are done. After starting the season 2-0 with wins over NAU and Stanford, the Devils have dropped four losses to UNLV, Georgia, Cal, and USC. It seems after the crushin overtime defeat to UNLV, the Devils lost any momentum they had going into the season. They had the chance to be 3-0 when they hosted Georgia (and had the chance for ESPN Gameday to come out to Tempe) in week four, but after losing in OT, the air deflated from the Devils.
A second loss to Georgia only worsened the situation as they headed out for two games in California, which they promptly lost by a combined score of 52-14. Combine that figure with the loss to Georgia and ASU is being outscored 79-24 over the last three games, after scoring 91 points in their first three games.
“I’m very perplexed,” said ASU Coach Dennis Erickson. “Sometimes I have trouble spelling that but I’m very perplexed.”
